From Africa to Asia, Africa's climate is dry, arid, mostly desert and surrounded by mountains. China has a more diverse climate such as tropical in the South, Sub Arctic in the North and alpine in higher elevations of the Tibetan Plateau. Japan's climate is rainy, very humid, ranges from sub-tropical to rainforest and is susceptible to earthquakes. Something that surprised me about Africa was how in the ancient Egyptian times, they had a social structure with pharaohs at the top and slaves at the bottom. Egypt also holds one of the world's famous seven wonders, the Pyramid of Giza, which contributed so much historically to discover Ancient Egypt. China's cultural significance to today's world would have to be the famous discovery of how Silk is made and the Silk trade. Lastly, Japan's cultural significance would be the "Seven principles of Japanese Interior Design", which changed and blew the Interior Design industry for the better, and to also understand Japanese culture as whole.

JAPANESE FURNITURE
A key design for Japan is the Shoji Screen. A Shoji Screen is a thick, translucent paper stretched over a wooden frame that holds together a lattice of bamboo. The Japanese used the Shoji Screen to bring the outdoors in, as they strongly believed nature was art. This was also a way to diffuse light, use natural materials and texture, all part of the 7 principles of Japanese Interior Design, as mentioned before. In today's day, we use shoji screens everywhere as an easy and budget friendly way to add privacy or to divide a room.
